COPP
Bellevue’s Community Oriented Police Program (COPP) began life in 1997 as the Bellevue Education Safety Team (B.E.S.T.). The purpose of COPP is to provide safety and educational information to the residents and businesses of Bellevue, and to foster a positive interaction between the community and its Police Department. COPP is responsible for numerous community-based programs, including:
Funding for the COPP comes, not from tax dollars, but mostly from donations from local businesses and citizens. Without the help of these people, many of our programs would not be possible.
Funding for the COPP program is
also raised through the sale of certain items. For example, if you need
an American Flag for your home, you can purchase one from the City
Clerk’s Office and all proceeds from that sale will go to the COPP.
Calendars that
feature the Police Department are also available for sale to benefit
COPP.
